By: M.S.Yatnatti: Editor and Video Journalist Bengaluru: Reportedly The Karnataka High Courtstayed further proceedings against a couple on a complaint registered with the Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force (BMTF) on August 6, alleging their house has encroached upon rajakaluve land in Kasavanahalli, east Bengaluru. Granting an interim order, Justice Anand Byrareddy directed BBMP officials not to cause any further damage to the petitioners' house built on a 4,650 sqft plot.Apart from seeking quashing of proceedings, techie couple AR Mahendra Kumar and his wife Roopa have sought compensation worth Rs 3.5 crore in lieu of the demolished portion of their house, from BBMP commissioner Manjunath Prasad and others. The petitioners claimed they had obtained the sanction plan in 2011 and constructed the building in 2012 with their hardearned money .During the hearing, senior counsel Udaya Holla wondered how the authorities could rely on a 1904 village map to de molish properties when the buildings were constructed according to the approved plan in consonance with BDA's master plan. "Why a 1904 map?Why not a map dating back to the Kempegowda period?" Holla quipped. Justice Reddy wondered how the authorities started a demolition exercise without cancellingannulling the sanction plans issued by the very authority . "Let there be sanity," the judge said before adjourning the heating. The Karnataka government on Wednesday directed the BBMP to restrict demolition drive to encroachments on storm water drains (SWDs) for now and not extend it to other areas, including lakes and forest land encroachments. The move comes in the backdrop of complaints that some civic officials have been marking properties in places other than SWDs as `encroachments' and threatening to demolish them. After the cabinet meeting here, law Minister TB Jayachandra reportedly told reporters: "We don't want people to panic. Civic officials have been instructed to clear encroachments on drains first -be it primary , secondary or tertiary. They're supposed to ensure there's no flooding during rain. Officials have been told not to touch other encroachments for now." Civic officials need to be have been instructed to clear storm Water Drain are filled with waste construction materials, cement debris, plastic, leaves etc. on drains first -be it primary , secondary or tertiary They're supposed to ensure there's no flooding during rain.People reportsfor several years stormWater Drain are not cleared ,This one of the reason for Bangalore Flooding in recent times. The stormWater Drain arefilled with waste construction materials, cement debris, plastic, leaves etc., and presently BBMP is only on demolition drive but demolished debris is not cleaned and it is lying on the drain itself. During rain, the rain water will not flow easily, instead stagnates and form water body, which is breeding ground for mosquitos, reptiles Dengu etc., There is need for cleaning and widening and deepening of all side storm water drains of all roads and all ring roads and state and national high waysthey have actually replaced and re routed and shifted the Rajakalves of earlier revenue Bengaluru and now any other Rajakaluve is not necessary. To me demolition of Bengaluru is not necessary to solve the flooding problem .Now time has come every citizen should file RTI application to find out how many fake bills have been raised for cleaning and widening the storm water drain and roads in each AEE area in BBMP without doing work. Let The Mayor and commissioner demolish the corruption if any exists in BBMP engineering department who allegedly raises fake bills and loot the peace of mind by flooding the Bengaluru.
