By: M.S.Yatnatti: Editor and Video Journalist Bengaluru: Sri B.S Prahlad EE (Road Infrastructure) is not above the MP MLA Corporator of the Area and several residents have given representation for railway under bridge for LMV and pedestrians opposite R V COLLEGE OF ENGG Mysore Road Bengaluru: 560059 and Railways has not opposed it. .Sri B.S Prahlad EE (Road Infrastructure) BBMP is opposing railway under bridge for LMV and pedestrians (By "Box Pushing” without any disruption to existing use) opposite R V COLLEGE OF ENGG Mysore Road under the influence of vested interests .BBMP should listen to public voice and its justified demands .The president KM Siddramu and his executive committee members and office bearers of III block GB Layout resident welfare association who have made several rounds to BBMP head office and JC office MLA and MP Offices to get their grievances redressed by BBMP officers . Their major demand is Railway Under Bridge opposite RV College for light motor vehicles and pedestrians which will solve their 15 years demand for an approach to GB Layout .Land is already acquired by BDA and approach road exists on both side .They want a simple magic box railway under bridge which can be constructed in just few days time and without much expenditure and it will solve 15 years demand of residents..They also welcome a fly over being planned at LC 10 but it will be of no help to III block residents and it might take 10 years to complete and not useful to residents as no parallel raod can be made . Sri B.S Prahlad EE (Road Infrastructure). BBMP playing with the life of several lakhs citizens of Bangalore in GB Layout who use it cross it and bye pass it . As people cannot reach for hospital in emergency as most of the time LC is closed for railway crossing and EE does not understand this human situation. "Vertical clearance at underpasses shall be at least 5.0 meters. However, in urban areas, this should be increased to 5.5 m so that double-decker buses could be accommodated”. However, this provision is not necessarily required for all roads throughout the country. It is seen that light commercial vehicles can easily pass with the vertical clearance of 3.6 m LHS where provided, whereas full height heavy commercial vehicles can pass at nearby located ROB's and level crossings. The proposal of Railways to replace level crossing with limited height subways i.e. for village roads vertical clearance 3.2 m but not less than 2.5 m in any case; and for other district roads 3.6 m in rural and urban areas is a step in right direction. With the construction of Limited Height Subways, the movement of heavy commercial vehicles may get restricted to NHs and SHs provided with full height. Road over bridges or Road Under Bridges and otherroads may cater to the requirement of light vehicles. The authorities will have to take up this challenge of elimination of level crossings to save time, energy & ensure safety of road users. It is reported that such Construction of light vehicular and pedestrian crossing( RUB)at Lingarajapuram Railwaycrossing is completed with approach roads on both sides of railway track at the cost of 333 lakhs. Heavy traffic delay and economic loss at LC 10level crossings is reported . Data on traffic classification and volume, frequencyand duration of closure of level crossing gates,number of vehicles and the delay caused by closureof gates for all type of vehicles, pedestrian countand spot speed surveyifcollected under the study it will show that GB layout people are worst affected and even people cannot reach in time to hospitals because of gate closer and lives of the people are in danger..
