By: M.S.Yatnatti: Editor and Video Journalist Bengaluru: Modi Government "Swachhta Udyami” scheme is booted in BBMP and Karnataka Udyog Mitra without any approval., A Government of Karnataka undertaking, appointed as a "single point of contact" for Project proposal with investments more than INR 15 crores failed to approve"Swachhta Udyami” proposal who cumulatively bring an investment of 1000 CR instead it has forwarded the proposal to BBMP which has even not bothered to read the proposal even after several month.. Project proponent contacted Karnataka Udyog Mitra with salient features of "Swachhta Udyami” , its unique advantages and discussed about project , suitable locations, human resources, approvals required, procedures involved etc.In the backdrop of developments in the central Government Swacha Bharat schemes State and BBMP failed to approve "Swachhta Udyami” proposal though KUM works on the model of Single Window Clearance mechanism.

Government is requested to provide 10x40 feet land on 30 year lease at 2500 location to each "Swachhta Udyami” for "Free to use Public Toilets” projectat 2500 locations (50% woman only toilets) in Bangaluru Urban District by 2500 "Swachhta Udyami”.

BBMP need to wake up and provide free urinals public toilets under PPP as Women have the right to safe and decent toilets at all convenient places, the Bombay high court observed on recently, upholding women's "right to pee" while outdoors. "Women have the right to have safe and clean toilets, which in a way impacts their right to live with human dignity ,'' said a bench of Justice Abhay Oka and Justice Revati Mohite-Dere.The court has directed municipal corporations across Maharashtra to "formulate a comprehensive scheme for construction and management of toilets urinals restrooms privies for women walking on the streets". "One of the paramount duties of the state and the corporation is to improve public health by providing toilets for women at all convenient places," it added. The judges said lack of toilet facilities can lead to several health issues in women, They explained that due to lack of toilets or even where they exist but lack of cleanliness, sanitation and hygiene, women tend to ``hold on'' and defer urinating until they can find a clean public toilet or till they reach home. Also at times women do not drink water when they step out with the fear that they may not have access to clean and clean public toilet.
