MHRD order dated 06-12-2012 withdrawing recognition to The Institution of Engineers (India) is an insult to engineers of entire nation. Revoke it. Smt Smrithi Irani Honble HRD Minister should reverse the order of MHRD and AICTE withdrawing recognition to The Institution of Engineers (India) a chartered institution since 1935 by law declared by parliament by an order dated 06-12-2012 stating that it has to apply before AICTE afresh. The Institution of Engineers (India) is fighting a case against MHRD and making such a situation to The Institution of Engineers (India) could have been avoided by MHRD and AICTE .Current Status in respect of WP(C) No. 3790/2013 - in the matter of recognition of Sections A & B examinations of IEI by MHRD The above Writ Petition, filed by IEI in Delhi High Court on 27 May 2013,came up for did not came up forhearing on 24 November 2015 and next date of hearing is 21-01-2016. Let MHRD and AICTE resolve the issue by mutual discussion. .This information is available at https://www.ieindia.org/PDF_IMAGES/ACADEMIC/Recognition_Sec%20A%20&%20B%20Exam.pdf?Event_Id=908).This an insult to engineers of entire nation .AICTE constituted in 1987 is nothing before The Institution of Engineers (India) which was established in 1920 in Kolkata, West Bengal and is acclaimed to have pioneered non-formal education in Engineering in India .Its examination papers and books are used by several engineering colleges throughout the world. The Institution of Engineers (India) has over one million members in 15 engineering disciplines in 114 centers or chapters in India and overseas; it is the world's largest multi-disciplinary engineering professional society in engineering and technology world. Such organization is derecognized by MHRD and AICTE is an insult to "make in India” concept of Prime Minister Narendar Modi. As per AICTE Act 1987 such organizations need to be automatically given due recognition under 10(1) (l) which states that "in respect of grant of charter to any professional body or institution in the field of technical education conferring powers rights and privileges on it for the promotion of such profession in its field including conduct of examination and awarding membership certificatesand it is matter of fact that The Institution of Engineers (India) is chartered organization since 1935 and its continuance is legal and it entitled that respect. AICTE and MHRD should return the glory back to the Institution of Engineers (India) as it was recognizing earlier.

Previously for several decades MHRD had Notification recognizing " 15 courses of Sections A & B Examinations as revised, conducted by The Institution of Engineers (India), 8 Gokhale Road, Kolkata as equivalent to bachelor's degree in the appropriate branch of engineering of the recognized universities of India. The Institution of Engineers (India), 8 Gokhale Road, Kolkata (IEI) is the National organization of Engineers in India. The Institution of Engineers (India) has over one million members in 15 engineering disciplines in 114 centers or chapters in India and overseas; it is the world's largest multi-disciplinary engineering professional society in engineering and technology world. The Institution of Engineers (India) was established in 1920 in Kolkata, West Bengal and is acclaimed to have pioneered non-formal education in Engineering. The Institution of Engineers (India) conducts an examination of its Associate Membership. This examination is considered to be on par with B.E. / B.Tech. When contemplated as an eligibility qualification to write competitive examinations like the Indian Civil Service, Indian Engineering Services, GATE, etc., and for employment in Government, public and private sectors in India. This qualification is recognized by Ministry of HRD, Government of India as equivalent to B.E./ B.Tech. The Institution of Engineers (India) was incorporated by Royal Charter in 1935. It is currently headquartered in 8 Gokhale Road, Kolkata - 700020.
