By: M.S.Yatnatti: Editor and Video Journalist Bengaluru:Governor and Chancellor Vajubhai R Vala has initiated action after an inquiry committee looking into the alleged irregularities at Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) Mysuru submitted its report.Based on the report, the Governor issued a notice to the KSOU vice-chancellor seeking an explanation. The notice was handed over to the registrar of the university P S Nayak. Acording to Sources in Raj Bhavan .The Governor had picked over 150 major points from the report. "The governor saw the 600 page- report and has directed that an explanation be given within 15 days. If they fail to give explanation or the explanation is not satisfactory, then criminal action can be taken,” a source said. The final report was submitted to the Governor by Justice Bhaktavatsala on October 14. The committee was appointed on December 19, 2014. Sources said that Krishnan was pulled up by the governor for various lapses that led to the derecognition. He was also taken to task for violating orders issued by the governor and the Higher Education department.

De-recognition is not sufficient .UGC need to take action on all India basis on KSOU its partners who are running examination illegally even on this date .KSOU has several partners' who have hundreds of study centers in all over India and KSOU has allowed their partners to conduct examination and evaluation without authority of law and SSLC passed employee of these partners evaluate M.Tech students fate and this VC has brought disgrace to entire University examination system. Meanwhile, in a notification issued on July 1, KSOU said that it had decided to withdraw all the programmes offered by collaborative institutions outside Karnataka. The varsity has more than 120 collaborative institutions and study centres across the country."The UGC has discontinued the recognition of programmes through open distance learning mode by KSOU's collaborative institutions and study centres. The university has decided to withdraw all the programmes offered by collaborative institutions outside the territory of Karnataka State with immediate effect,” the notification read.

Admission to examination to awarding of degree KSOU is flouting all norms of University and this is reportedly root cause of corruption. Collaborators are forced to give bribe otherwise they will face problems in admission of students and declaring the results or they issue show cause notice. Reportedly and allegedly the VC Prof Krishnan is root of all problems as it is reported that he has not conducted single examination of partner's institution student's examination by his team of examiners and only demanding bribe from collaborators. KSOU has not evaluated the answer sheets of partner's institution student's examination by KSOU. Who conducts the examination in KSOU and who evaluates the answers sheets and who declares the results of partner's institution student's examination is the mystery which CID/CBI must investigate. Academic council must limit its activities towards academics and syndicate should limit its activities for policy decisions and framing regulations.
