As unemployment looms over India, a new report has recently shown that more than 80% of Indian engineers are unemployable. According to Aspiring Minds' National Employability Engineers Annual Report 2019, lack of industry exposure and theory-based curriculum has contributed to this skill gap. The report also claims that only 40% of engineering students get internship opportunity and only 36% take up projects outside of their coursework. As internships offer better insight into the industry, this lack of experience is catering to the un-employability rate even more.Reportedly Organizations are strictly adhering to the rule of long notice periods. This, recruitment agencies say, is not only hindering the process of hiring but is also fuelling counter-offers. After two and a half months, the company offered the candidate a new role and the candidate decided to stay back.
